Van Staal Reel Grease made by Nye is the best lubrication for fishing reel gears and gear cases. It's the right viscosity and also has anti-wear, anti-oxidation and anti-corrosion additives. Higher viscosity gear grease with ultra low oil separation. A clay thickened, medium viscosity, ester blend grease intended for gear trains, gear motors and high load industrial bearings exposed to high operating temperatures. Benefits include good water resistance.
In theory, the "perfect lubricant" won't oxidize, suffer thermal breakdown, evaporate or allow surface contact for the life of the device.
